Helsott "Slaves and Gods"

helsottAuf Altnorwegisch bedeutet Helsott „tödliche Krankheit“. Das passt zu einer ruppigen Pagan-Metal-Band, auch wenn sie aus dem kalifornischen San Diego stammt. Helsott präsentieren eine coole Mixtur aus Death Metal, Folk, Symphonic Metal, Thrash, klassischem Metal und Rock, die nicht nur gen Skandinavien schielt, sondern sich ihre amerikanischen Einflüsse durchaus bewahrt hat.
Auf der nordamerikanischen Paganfest-Tour mit Ensiferum, Trollfest und Tyr räumten sie damit 2013 erstmals in größerem Rahmen ab. Nach dem Release des Debüt-Albums „Woven“ folgten weitere Tourneen, u.a. mit Arkona und Heidevolk und die 5-Track-EP „The Healer“. Nun erscheint mit „Slaves and Gods“ das zweite Studio-Album der Band.
Als Gäste hat man eine Latte an Musikern an Bord geholt, Masha Scream (Arkona), Lazar (Arkona), Dr. Leif Kjonnsfleis (TrolifesT), Trollmannen (TrolifesT), Damna (Elvenking), Lethien (Elvenking), Dom Crey (Equilibrium) und Kevin Storm, die Sänger Eric Dow, Schlagzeuger Cooper Dustman und den zurückgekehrten Gitarristen Mark Dow auf den 10 Tracks unterstützen.
